Using this website means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not order from us.

Using the website

You may browse the site freely. To place an order you must be able to enter into a contract — in Sri Lanka that means being 18 or older, or having a parent or guardian order for you.

Please give us accurate details. Almost every failed delivery we see comes from a phone number that cannot be reached or an address that is missing a lane or a landmark. If you hold an account with us, you are responsible for keeping your password to yourself.

Do not use the site to break the law, to interfere with how it runs, or to copy the catalogue in bulk.

The books, and what they cost

We sell new printed books in Sinhala. Every price on the site is in Sri Lankan rupees and includes any taxes that apply. Delivery is charged separately and is shown on the cart and again at checkout before you confirm.

We describe each book as accurately as we can — page count, weight, binding, year, publisher — and the description is usually the publisher's own. Covers are photographed or supplied by the publisher; a reprint can differ slightly from the picture shown.

Prices and stock change. A book can sell out between you seeing it and ordering it, and mistakes happen: if a book is listed at an obviously wrong price, we will contact you before charging anything and you may cancel.

Orders and payment

Placing an order is an offer to buy, not a completed sale. The sale is made when we confirm it — we telephone every order before dispatch, usually the same or the next working day.

We may decline an order. That is rare and it is for real reasons: the book has sold out, the address is outside anywhere a courier will go, or the order looks fraudulent. If we decline one you have already paid for, you get the full amount back.

• Cash on delivery — pay the courier when the books arrive.
• Bank transfer — we send account details after you order and dispatch once the transfer arrives.
• Card — handled entirely by our payment provider. Your card details are entered on their page, not ours; we never see or store them.

Delivery

We deliver anywhere in Sri Lanka, dispatched from Pelmadulla. Once dispatched, books reach you within 24 hours, and in rare cases up to 48.

Those are the times we plan for, not a guarantee. Public holidays, weather and the courier's own schedule can add to them. Where a delay is ours, tell us and we will put it right; where it is the courier's, we will chase them for you.

Returns and refunds

A book that arrives wrong, damaged, misprinted, or never arrives at all is replaced or refunded within three days of delivery. We do not accept returns simply because a book was not what you expected.

Words and pictures on this site

The site's design, its text, and its arrangement of the catalogue belong to us. Book covers, titles and publishers' descriptions belong to their authors and publishers and appear here to sell their books.

You are welcome to link to any page, share it, and quote a line or two. Copying the catalogue, scraping it, or reproducing descriptions and covers elsewhere is not permitted.

What we are answerable for

We are responsible for getting you the book you ordered, in the condition it should be in, and for putting it right when we do not.

We are not responsible for things genuinely outside our control — a courier strike, a flood, a power cut at the printer — or for indirect losses, such as income you did not earn because a book was late.

Nothing here removes any right you have under Sri Lankan law, including the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 9 of 2003. Where a term in these conditions conflicts with that law, the law wins.

Changes, and the law that applies

We may change these terms as the shop changes. The terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it, and the date below says when this page was last revised.

These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
